Craft 42 Roasters is proud to be one of the selected roasters worldwide participating in The James Hoffmann Fermentation Project.

Created by James Hoffmann in collaboration with fermentation expert Lucia Solis and sourcing partner Caravela, this global coffee tasting explores one of the most influential stages of coffee production—fermentation.

This unique experience allows you to taste four coffees from the same producer, harvest, variety, and origin, each processed using a different fermentation method. By keeping every other variable as consistent as possible, you'll discover how fermentation alone transforms flavour, sweetness, acidity, body, aroma, and mouthfeel.

Experience the Difference

Fermentation is one of the most exciting innovations in specialty coffee, yet it's often difficult to isolate its impact. This project removes nearly every other variable, allowing you to compare four fermentation methods side by side using the same coffee.

Each tasting kit will be freshly roasted by Craft 42 Roasters before release.

Orders containing The James Hoffmann Fermentation Project will ship together once the tasting kits are ready. If your order includes additional coffees or merchandise, your entire order will be shipped at the same time unless separate shipping arrangements are made.

Customers selecting local pickup will receive an email notification when their order is ready.
